If you are migrating to Canada from China and would prefer to live in a rural area instead of an urban area, such as Vancouver, Rimouski, Quebec is the place for you. The affordability, quality of life, high employment rate, and education are the main reasons why you should become a resident of Rimouski. Here is some information on the area, to help you decide if Rimouski is the right place for you:

Urban Amenities:

Public Transportation:

There are many different modes of public transportation offered in Rimouski. There is the Rimouskibus service with the Citebus and the Taxibus. You can also use their train services and even a ferry.

Environment: 

Although, they are not known for it, Rimouski is a very environmentally friendly city. Everyone is very environmentally cautious about what they do and always try to keep their streets clean. Recycling and limiting waste is a high priority for the people of Rimouski.

Outdoor Activities:

Even though Rimouski is a small city, there are still many different types of outdoor activities you can do. You can go golfing, hiking, biking, kayaking, even dog sledding.

Restaurants:

Being that Rimouski is quite small, there is not as many diverse restaurants as an urban city, such as Vancouver. However, there are still many great places to eat. There are a couple Japanese restaurants, Italian, American, and even a few great Chinese restaurants. 

Basic Industries:

Due to Rimouski being located right along the St. Lawrence River, fishing is a large business for them. However, it is not their largest, their medical and research centres are. The Rimouski Regional Hospital and the Marine Research Centres are Rimouski's largest businesses. They bring a lot of business and profit from outside of the community.

Resource Based Community: 

Rimouski does have a large fishing industry, and while it does bring them a lot of business and income, it is not what they rely on. They mostly rely on the business of their Medical Centres and their Marine Research Centres. 

Population:

Rimouski is a small city, therefore its population is not that high. The population of Rimouski is 46,860, with majority of the population being French-Canadian. However, 14% of the minority population of Rimouski is Chinese. 

Climate:

Rimouski, Quebec is located right along the coast of the St. Lawrence River, therefore just like Vancouver, it has a maritime climate. Due to it having a maritime climate, Rimouski does get quite a lot of rain. It also stays moderately cool throughout the year.

The public transportation system in Vancouver is amazing, it is ranked 3rd out of all of Canada's provinces with an incredible score of 74 out of 100. There are also many different types of public transportation: the sky-train, seabus, taxicabs, and even water taxis.

Environment:

The quality of the environment in Vancouver is incredible, they are continuously doing things and making improvements that help make the city more eco-friendly. They are even striving to become the "greenest city in North America". Due to the environment being such a high priority to Vancouverites, the air quality is amazing: it is clean, fresh, and healthy.

Outdoor Activities:

Even though Vancouver is a major urban city, you are still able to go and visit beautiful outdoor areas. For example, the famous Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, the Seawall, the Botanical Gardens, the list is endless. 

Diverse Restaurants:

Vancouver is filled with a very diverse population, in terms of ethnicity and culture. Therefore, there are many different kinds of restaurants that can cater to anyone and their preferences. There is a high count of Oriental restaurants, well known for their fresh seafood.

Basic Industries 

Due to Vancouver being a coastal city, they are well known for their seafood. The seafood industry is very large in Vancouver; it is a large contributor to Vancouver's income. This is a basic industry, because it brings Vancouver business from out of the city. This business for Vancouver is extremely successful and continues to thrive.

Resource Based Community

Vancouver is a highly populated urban city, therefore it is not a resource based community. Although, the fishing industry is a large contributor to the city's economy, it is not the only source of income. Due to the high population, there are many more businesses that bring income to Vancouver as well.

Vancouver is a highly populated city, with a population of 2,313,328. For someone immigrating here from China that may seem a bit intimidating, however Vancouver has the highest concentration of Chinese-Canadians in Canada. Out of the 2,313,328 people, 402,000 are Chinese-Canadian. Therefore, if you become a resident of this city, the transition will be much easier.

Climate

Vancouver city is located on the coast, therefore it has a maritime climate. Due to it having a maritime climate it will rain there a lot, however the temperature will always stay relatively cool, it will never get too hot.
